Description:

FA-PEG-MAL is one of reactive folate PEG derivatives that have a folic acid on one terminusof PEG chain and a maleimide group on the other PEG end. Folic acid is alsoknown as vitamin M, vitamin B9 or pteroyl-L-glutamic acid. Folic acid is anessential bioactive molecule for numerous biological functions. It participatesin the synthesis, repairing and methylation of DNA as well as to act as acofactor in many biological reactions. Maleimide functionalized folic acid PEG allowsthe attachment of folic acid to other molecules and materials quickly andefficiently through reaction between thiol and maleimide. Maleimide reacts withsulfhydryl (thiol) groups at neutral pH with high specificity and efficiency.PEG chain between maleimide and folate offers with higher water solubility,flexible linker structure and enhanced stability.
