MPEG-FA is one of methoxypolyethylene glycol folic acid derivatives that have a folicacid molecule covalently attached to a linear PEG linker . Folic acid is alsoknown as vitamin M, vitamin B9 or pteroyl-L-glutamic acid. It is an essentialbioactive molecule for numerous biological functions. It participates in thesynthesis, repairing and methylation of DNA as well as to act as a cofactor inmany biological reactions. Pegylated folic acid is hydrophilic and it is readilysoluble in water. Functionalized folic acid PEG derivatives can be used fortargeted drug delivery, imaging and bioassay development.
